Black History Month Celebration: “African American Firsts”

Please join Craven Community College for an evening of celebrating “African American Firsts” and the achievements of African American students and community members.
Walk through an art installation, created by our Art History and Art Appreciation students, of contemporary African American artists. Journey through time to learn about the pioneering contributions of African Americans in art, music, science, business, math, medicine, and more. Listen to live music performed Craven CC students and 3CGC, Craven CC’s official Gospel Choir. See works of art created by Craven CC students. Hear about what progress is happening in our own community and how those who came before paved the way to a bright and vibrant future with guest speakers Greg Singleton, Director of Community Workforce Readiness, Brian Kmec, Craven CC History Professor, and Jameesha Harris, New Bern Alderman for Ward 2. Food and beverages will be served.
