NC Strive Eastern Regional Conference
April 24 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
The 2019 NC Student Transition Resource Initiative for Veteran’s Education (STRIVE) Eastern Conference will be held Wednesday, April 24 at Orringer Auditorium on Craven CC’s New Bern Campus. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the conference begins at 9 a.m.
Founded in 2014 as a project of the Governor’s Working Group, the goal of NC STRIVE is to provide services and supports leading to student veterans’ success in two-year and four-year public and private institutions of higher education in North Carolina. NC STRIVE accomplishes this goal through conferences targeting administrators, support staff, and faculty.
This conference will provide the student veteran community with assistance tools and resources to facilitate a smooth transition from the military to higher education and from higher education to the workplace. Each planning committee consists of representatives from community colleges, public and private universities, LME/MCOs, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, the Governor’s Institute, and Veteran advocacy organizations.
This year’s event will feature:
- Guest speakers from the Marine Corps Community Services at MCAS Cherry Point
- Student panel consisting of active duty, veteran, and dependent students from Craven CC, Park University, East Carolina University, and NC Wesleyan
- Breakout sessions facilitated by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fleet Readiness Center East (FRC-East), and Craven CC’s Workforce Development Programs, Career Programs and Dean of Havelock campus
- Exhibits from federal, state and nonprofit organizations
Lunch will be provided.
