The Sea Inside
November 2 @ 2:30 pm - 9:30 pm
The Lifetime Learning Center at Craven Community College is pleased to present “The Sea Inside.” Offered as part of Explorations: The International Film Series, this biopic drama is rated PG-13.
Javier Bardem stars in this moving film based on the true story of Ramon Sampedro, a Spaniard who’s condemned to life as a quadriplegic after a diving accident. Determined to die with dignity, Sampedro leads a 30-year campaign to win the right to end his life. His extraordinary example inspires his lawyer and a local woman to each reach for the heavens, with both achieving far beyond their wildest dreams. Ramon, who has been in the same bed in the same room for 26 years, has his music, his radio, the television, visitors and a window view. But he does not have his freedom. He is tired of his bed, his limitations and his life. He argues his point with great conviction, aided above all by his smile.
This year’s international film selections will be presented on the first Friday of every month from September to November and January to April. Each film has two show times, one a matinee at 2:30 p.m. the other an evening screening at 7:30 p.m. All events take place in Orringer Auditorium on the New Bern Campus. All are welcome. Admission is free! Donations directly support the film series.
