New Bern (Sun Journal)- Matt Knight is a force to be reckoned with. Not only does he excel at a demanding and often thankless job, but he is also a father of three teenagers (which, let’s admit, can be a feat in itself).
Born in Morehead City, Matt grew up moving all around the state due to his father’s job with Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE). Matt began his own law enforcement career with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in 2000. Two years later, he joined the Fayetteville Police Department, where he remained for almost five years. During that time, he dealt with countless residential burglaries and drug dealers.
On Sept. 27, Matt will be a presenter for the “Stop the Cravin’!” symposium that will focus on education, prevention and intervention for the growing opioid epidemic and other substance abuse issues. It will be held at Craven Community College’s Orringer Auditorium.
