Troy Smith first came to New Bern in 1967 and has since had a massive impact on the quality of life throughout the community. From revolutionizing healthcare at CarolinaEast Health system to being a part of the committee that worked to award the county with approval and financing to construct the US 17 and NC55 bridges across the Trent and Neuse rivers, Smith’s time in New Bern has been full of active efforts to improve the area. His efforts have been recognized by the Craven Community College Foundation, which has chosen to honor Smith with one of the three Community Fabric Awards presented in 2018.
