Approximately 26 people attended the TRiO Leadership Club’s celebration of National TRiO Day Wednesday, Feb. 21. The TRiO Leadership Club does a service project every year and chose this year as an opportunity to host a semester-long food drive for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Those who donated food received a free Subway box lunch, provided by TRiO Leadership Club.
The TRiO Student Leadership Club would like to thank everyone who helped celebrate TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) 50th anniversary by donating items for its food drive. With an especially big “thank you” to Hannah Huesman, outreach coordinator of the Central and Eastern North Carolina Food Bank, and Gregory Singleton, director of community workforce readiness, for speaking about the importance of helping community neighbors.
TRiO SSS has been helping students who are low income, first generation or have a disability for the past 50 years. TRiO Student Support Services began at Craven CC in 2010 and in 2014 the TRiO Leadership Club began its annual commitment to creating service projects that support the community and help fellow students.
