HVAC Technology Level 1

Study HVAC operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential and light commercial heating/cooling systems. NCCER Carpentry II

After successfully completing NCCER Construction 1, you’re ready for NCCER Construction 2. In Part 2, you’ll be introduced to carpentry and weatherization. You’ll add valuable skills and knowledge to your job-related tool box, including knowledge of building materials, construction drawings, floor systems, wall systems, basic stair layout and ceiling joist and roof framing. You will also learn the fundamentals of weatherization and how it applies to the building envelope. You’ll start to apply what has been learned in the classroom to the real world through hands-on collaborative construction of the homes being built for The Greater New Bern Habitat for Humanity and various other projects.

When you successfully complete the program, you will receive NCCER certifications in Level 2 Construction and the Fundamentals of Weatherization. Book required and available at bookstore. NCCER Construction Level 1 & 2

This 435-hour program provides the student with the knowledge and skills in the construction trades that the industry is looking for.
Part One provides training in: Building Materials and Fasteners, Hand and Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Floor Systems, Wall Systems, Ceiling Joist and Roof Framing and Basic Stair Layout.

Code Enforcement – Law and Administration

Study the NC Administrative and Enforcement Requirements Code available from the International Code Council at (800) 786-445 or www.iccsafe.org and qualify to sit for any of the State Code Enforcement examinations. Small Business Startup Classes (Contractor & Entrepreneur Classes)

Were you affected by Hurricane Florence and discovered that there was a shortage of skilled trades persons in the area. Do you have specific trades skills and would like to start your own business? Do you need information on how to go about getting started? If you answered yes to any of these questions then Craven Community College has the solution to meet your needs.

Craven Community College in conjunction with a grant awarded by the American Red Cross has developed a 32-hour training program on “ How To Start a Small Business “. This training program provides training on the following topics; Goal Setting; Business Planning, Community Analysis and Marketing, Breakeven Analysis; Cash Flow Projections; Target Marketing; Bookkeeping; Operations; Creating the Business Plan and Taxes.

To accommodate the busy schedules of everyone needing this training Craven CC is offering a day class and an evening class. For those individuals who were affected by Hurricane Florence the registration cost for these classes are covered by the Red Cross Grant.

Welding Certification NCCER

Upon completion of this course, you will be a Nationally Certified level 1 Welder. You will learn general safety, common hazards, oxy fuel, plasma arc, air carbon arc, base metals, joint design, quality workmanship, codes, SMAW, electrodes. College will provide all resources including textbooks.

Welding Level 2 NCCER Certification

The L2 NCCER Welding course provides instruction on the principles and practices of welding. Emphasis is on Welding Symbols, Reading Welding Detail Drawings, Physical Characteristic and Mechanical Properties of Metals, Preheating and Post heating of Metals, GMAW (MIG) and FCAW ( Flux Core ARC Welding) and GTAW (TIG) set up and uses of different filler metals and gasses. The NCCER level 2 class can be taken prior to the NCCER Level 1 Class. Students completing the class must pass written exams with a 70% or higher and complete all performance evaluations.

NCCER Welding Level 1 & 2

This 585-hour program provides the student with basic skills needed to obtain entry level employment with a company as a qualified welder.

Part One consists of training in: Welding Safety, Oxy fuel cutting, Plasma Arc Cutting, Air Carbon Arc Cutting, Metal Preparation, weld Quality SMAW Groove welds with Backing and Open Root Grove Welds.

Part Two consists of training in: Welding Symbols, Reading welding Detail Drawings, GMAW -Plate Welding and FCAW – Plate Welding.
