Activity Director
The State of North Carolina requires medical residential facilities to have recreational activities for residents. Learn how to lead these programs in this class, through lecture and hands-on activities. Class completion plus 25 volunteer hours at an assisted living or Nursing home will be required to complete this program.

Central Sterile Processing Technician
The Central Sterile Processing is a dynamic and fast paced environment with work that is challenging highly technical, complex and rewarding. The Central Sterile Processing Technician is an essential part of the surgical team and have a vital impact on the smooth operation of the many departments they provide services. Patient safety and infection preventions start with Central Sterile Processing.
Classes will include basic fundamentals, Instrument identification, basic sterile processing, labs and clinical rotations. This will introduce students to the technical skills and the primary responsibilities of a Central Sterile Technician and prepare the student for employment in a hospital, ambulatory care and Physicians’ office setting. Completion of this class will provide advance knowledge and skills and hands-on practical application that will prepare the student for the workplace and the certification exam through the CBSPD (Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) or through IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management) with continued hands-on hours that can be completed post-employment. Course cost consists of tuition and supply/insurance fees.

An Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Scholarship Program is a result of the U.S. Department of Education providing grants to state governors to assist institutions of higher learning with Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID19) emergency assistance. These funds are provided for Continuing Education/Workforce Development courses that lead to Certification or Licensure in designated Career Pathways. The funds are intended for those persons adversely impacted by COVID.

Medication Aide
Gain the credential needed to work as a Medication Aide in skilled nursing homes. This 24-29 hour class (Fees: $78-133) will prepare you for the NC Medication Aide Registry exam. This popular class is limited to 10 seats. Nurse aide credentials will also be required to work in a skilled nursing home as a medication aide.

Nurse Aide I
NC Nurse Aide I training at Craven CC is designed to provide skills essential to provide direct patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Nurse aide jobs are in high demand and upon completion, job opportunities at various medical facilities such as hospitals, skilled nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home health agencies and private offices or agencies are available. This class includes class/lab/clinical and the required state testing will be available on the New Bern Campus.

Phlebotomy Training
Phlebotomy – drawing blood – is a rewarding professional job. You will learn venipuncture, basic lab skills and you will be prepared for an optional national certification exam (NHA). The fee for the exam is $129.00, payable to National Healthcareer Association (NHA). In addition to class time, the clinical rotation requires a flexible daytime schedule as clinical locations are available. Course cost consists of tuition and supply/insurance fees.

- High school diploma or GED copy required.
- Hepatitis B shots (3 required) documentation of shots or titer, bring document to instructor. Students may bring documentation that the Hepatitis B series has been started. Hepatitis B series of 3 shots are as follows:
