Aviation Sheet Metal
This 124-hour program of study will educate participants in the following aviation sheet metal fabrication skills:
- Corrosion Control
- Positive Tool Control
- Foreign Object Damage
- Flight Line and shop safety
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Sheet Metal hand tools safety and use
- Fuselage stations
- Sheet metal power tools safety and use
- Micrometer care and readings
- Aircraft hardware identification and use
- Proper installation and removal of solid rivets and blind fasteners
- Sheet metal repair
Included in the training is the opportunity to take the Career Readiness Certification exam and receive bronze, silver or gold certification. The course will be taught by lecture and hands on skills lab training on college owned with aircraft. At the conclusion of the course, the participant should be competent in the duties assigned to an entry level Aviation Sheet Metal worker position.Student responsible for providing: 3 Ring Binder with Paper, safety glasses, hearing protection, shoes that fully cover the foot, cut resistant gloves.

FAA Gen/Airframe Cert. and FAA Gen/Powerplant Exam Preparatory/Cert Course
Craven Community College provides participants with a review of the FAA learning statement guide for Airmen Certification, along with hands-on practical skills review in preparation for the FAA written, oral, and practical exams. Course tuition provides participants with textbooks and prep-ware.

Diesel Engine and Diesel Systems Technology
Are you looking for a new career or to enhance your existing career as a Diesel Engines and Diesel Systems Technology Specialist? If you are then look not further. Craven Community College is offering a Diesel Engine and Diesel Systems technology program starting in January of 2021.
The program will be provided in two parts.
Part One is Diesel Engines Training to include topics in: Shop Safety, Into to Diesel Engines, Principles of Diesel Engines, Engine Evaluations and Disassembly, Pistons, Rings and Connecting Rods, Cylinder Heads and Components to mention a few.
Part Two is Diesel Systems to include topics in: Intro into Heavy Duty Trucks, Maintenance Programs, Fundamentals of Electricity and Computers, Cranking Systems, Hydraulics, Clutches, Transmissions, Axels, and Braking Systems to mention a few.
Both Part One and Two are 360 hours in length and will be provided through both day and evening classes.

Commercial Driver License
The Class “A” Commercial License (CDL) course provides students with training to:
- inspect and operate tractor-trailers
- assume driving responsibilities on the road
The Class “B” Commercial License (CDL) course provides students with training to:
- inspect and operate straight trucks
- assume driving responsibilities on the road
Emphasis is placed on:
- vehicle inspections
- defensive driving
- range maneuvers
- motor carrier safety regulations and certification
- trip planning
- cargo planning
- size/weight laws
- general maintenance procedures
- accident prevention
- owner operator overview
- hours of service
Program Outcomes
After satisfactory completion of all course requirements, students are prepared to take the NC Department of Motor Vehicles Class “A”/Class “B” Commercial Driver License examination. Additionally, students receive a Federal Motor Safety Administration Entry-level Driver Training Certificate and a Craven Community College Certificate of Completion.

Homebrewing
Intro to Homebrewing
Raise your glass to a new learning opportunity at Craven Community College. Designed for entry-level home brewers with little or no experience, Introduction to Homebrewing teaches students an understanding of beer styles, brewing technologies and hands-on experience in brewing a beer and tasting beer, in a safe environment. Each class is limited to 15 students. Makes a great gift too! Textbook, How To Brew: Everything You Need to Know to Brew Great Beer Every Time, is included in the cost of the class.

Advanced Homebrewing
This advanced homebrew class is intended for those already brewing at home and are interested in taking brewing to the next level. This is a 16-hour class meets four times, allows the student to experience four different mashing methods:
- Step mashing
- Brew In A Bag (BIAB)
- Single Infusion
- Heat Exchanged Recirculating Mash (HERMS) on a commercial system.
On the fourth week of class, the students will participate on a field trip to Brütopia Brewing Company, a local brewery and brew from a commercial system.

Veteran Transition and Preparatory Training
Military Academic Skills Program
Open up further employment and education opportunities by improving your academic skills. This course focuses on reading, grammar, and mathematics skills, Class meets every weekday for 8 hours over a three-week period. Upon completion, students are tested on the Testing of Basic Education (TABE) test to determine improvement from initial TABE test taken on the first day of class.
