Craven Community College’s globalization effort strives to establish and cultivate global competencies in our students and faculty through its curriculum, cultural enrichment activities, and group travel. In order to develop global competency, the College has invested in creating and facilitating short-term study abroad opportunities for its students, faculty, administration, and staff.
Study Abroad Application Information
Students
Participating in a study abroad program incorporates academic learning with intercultural and experiential learning by providing students with the opportunity to develop intercultural skills, explore issues of social justice from a global perspective, and allows them to examine their values, attitudes, and responsibilities for global citizenship. Study abroad prepares students for a multicultural and global workplace.
Faculty
Participating in a study abroad program allows them to incorporate multicultural content and experiences into their classes and co-curricular activities for students and enhances opportunities for them to offer lectures and seminars based on their experiences to the surrounding community. Participation in study abroad programs by administrators and staff members promotes a global ethos on campus that helps the College to develop new programs and enhanced support systems that are responsive to an increasingly global marketplace.
