Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)
This program provides benefits for members of the Selected Reserve who have established eligibility for 1606 of the MGIB and have been called to active duty since September 11, 2001. This program does not accept new applications but you may be “grand-fathered” in and be able to use it as a transfer student.
Admissions Procedures
1. Meet with our Veterans Affair’s representative on the New Bern Campus (First Stop Office) or the Havelock Campus (Redd Building, Suite 101) to complete the VA Memorandum of Understanding.
2. Request certificate of eligibility at va.gov. If you have to submit it on paper, you will get the DD form 1990.
3. Complete the application for determination of residency for tuition purposes.
4. Apply online to Craven Community College by clicking “apply” at the top of our homepage.
5. Apply for Financial Aid. Applying for financial aid can be a lengthy process (about 6-8 weeks). Do this immediately!
6. Schedule a placement test. Student may be required to take the Placement Test unless you are waived from having to take them. 7. Request to have all high school and post-secondary transcripts officially sent to:

8. If you have served in the Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Navy request to have your official Joint Service Transcripts (JST) sent to us. Register for an account, and then request an official copy be sent to Craven Community College.

9. Register for New Student Orientation. All students are required to attend a New Student Orientation session.
10. Meet and Register for classes with an Academic Advisor.
11. Submit class schedule to VA Representative Barbie Williams or Jeff Quinn at the New Bern or Havelock campus (VA Students only). Call the Business Office at (252)638-7268 and they will hold your classes. Failure to do so may result in a class cancellation due to non-payment. Additionally, you classes will not get certified because this process will tell our VA office that you have signed up for classes.
