Are you ready to polish your job skills and boost your marketability? Our Job Readiness Boot Camp can help you! It is divided into six steps that will have you career ready in just two weeks. The program is open to anyone, whether you’ve got a master’s degree and want to brush up on job skills or even if you’re an ex-offender trying ease back into society and the workforce.
Step 1: Basic Computer Skills (3 days)
Get hands-on computer assistance that includes connecting to the internet, setting up email and social media accounts, and other useful programs.
Step 2: Gateway to Employment (2 days)
Learn the basics of discovering your strengths, how to apply them to a career, how to dress for success, and how to ace a job interview.
Step 3: Career Planning and Assessment (1 day)
Take the Myers-Briggs test to discover the right career path, as well as goal setting and goal getting. You will also write and develop a written plan of action.
Step 4: Resume & Cover Letter (2 days)
Create or update a resume and cover letter. The instructor will polish the resume and make sure you have printed copies, as well as emailed copies that can be accessed anywhere via the internet.
Step 5: Economic Literacy (1 day)
Learn how to make and maintain a simple budget, build a positive credit history, save money, set financial goals, and banking basics.
Step 6: Employability Skills (1 day)
Complete job applications, cover letters and resumes, and work with NCWorks career advisors. You will also tour our New Bern campus, Volt Center campus, and worksites and meet with hiring managers.
The boot camp is a collaborative training effort with Religious Community Services (RCS) of New Bern and the Craven-Pamlico Re-entry Council. Participants will be registered Craven CC students, earn continuing education units, and have their program participation reflected on continuing education transcripts.
You can register and attend class at the RCS Annex building (503 Guion Street, New Bern). The location is a CARTS stop, and a meal is provided at the RCS Kitchen.
