General Definition of Work
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
Interprets and applies federal, state, and local regulations, codes and ordinances relating to transportation planning and programming
Review site plans, preliminary and final plats for minor and major subdivisions for compliance and implementation with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, codes and ordinances and related transportation plans
Receives, responds, and resolves questions regarding transportation and land use from engineers, contractors, other departments, and the general public
Coordinates and reviews traffic impact analysis for proposed development projects
Develops and participates in short and long range studies concerning the planning of transportation facilities and services and their impact on the study area’s transportation network, land use, and economic development
Assists in the analysis and development of the annual Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) and Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP)
Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence
Acts as liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers, elected officials and the MPO committees
Assists in researching, preparing and managing grant applications and programs
Performs related tasks as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requirements
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in planning, geography or related field.
Special Requirements
Possession of appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
