The Harold H. Bate Foundation Scholarship offers financial assistance to students residing in Craven, Jones, or Pamlico County who are pursuing higher education at Craven Community College. Established by the Harold H. Bate Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering education and community development in Eastern North Carolina, this scholarship serves as a testament to Mr. Bate's enduring commitment to supporting local students in their academic endeavors.

Since its inception, the Harold H. Bate Foundation has been steadfast in its mission to support education, youth development, and the overall quality of life in Craven, Pamlico, and Jones counties. By providing financial assistance to deserving students through initiatives such as the Harold H. Bate Foundation Scholarship, the foundation continues to uphold Mr. Bate's vision of empowering individuals to reach their full potential through education.

Scholarship Criteria

The Harold H. Bate Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students who:

  • reside in Craven, Pamlico, or Jones counties
  • demonstrate financial need
  • maintain a qualifying GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) 
  • must not be receiving other forms of financial aid, except for the Bookstore Scholarship, or the Emergency Bookstore Scholarship from Craven Community College

Recipients may receive up to $700 if enrolled in six or more credit hours, or $350 if enrolled in fewer than six credit hours.
