Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

Makes regular tours of plant and equipment; monitors gauges, meters, control panels, etc.
Records readings from meters and instruments.
Checks functioning of equipment.
Regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, sluice gates, blowers, valves and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions.
Enters data into computer to interrogate different parts of the plant.
Changes speed of pumps; opens and closes storm well sluice gate.
Changes chemical drums using hand truck; changes chlorine tanks.
Collects samples of raw sewage, primary treatment effluent and grit.
Skims grease from settling tanks; pumps sludge, drains tanks, changes clarifiers.
Cleans and services pumps, motors and other equipment.
Makes minor or emergency repairs; performs minor preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
Performs general maintenance and grounds keeping duties.
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requirements
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment in a wastewater treatment plant.
