This course covers the fundamentals of training persons interested in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems found in residential surroundings. Coursework, most of which is hands-on, will include such topics as AC/DC theory, basic wiring practices, understanding safety of electricity. Topics include safety, tools and instrumentation, troubleshooting techniques, electrical power, wiring applications, outlets, switches, circuit breakers and service panels, lighting applications, National Electric Code discussion, and more. Heavy emphasis will be placed on students having plenty of hands-on work, follow safety standards, and develop confidence to know when you can fix something yourself or when to call the professionals.
