Occupational Summary

The Academic Success Coach assists in the delivery of academic support activities and interventions designed to increase student performance, persistence, completion, and graduation rates among our most at-risk student populations. This position will provide direct student support in the form of advising, counseling, and connecting students to college resources. The Academic Success Coach will work directly with faculty, staff, and students across campus to develop and deliver intrusive support programming. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Maintains a caseload of students that are on financial aid probation
  • Makes direct contact with distance education students and ensures they have the resources needed to be successful
  • Delivers programming developed for students enrolled in developmental education and online courses
  • Provides soft skills and student development skills to students on academic warning and probation
  • Develops an Academic Recovery Plan with students on Financial Aid Appeal
  • Works with students and the Academic Support staff to develop a tutoring and support plan that meets students’ needs
  • Responds to early alerts for students in assigned caseload and makes the appropriate follow-up recommendations
  • Meets with students in assigned caseload on a weekly and biweekly basis and ensures that students are receiving the interventions prescribed
  • Monitors student participation in support services and collects student outcome information
  • Communicates with instructors to obtain progress reports on students
  • Collaborates with various areas within and outside of the Academic Support Center to facilitate student success, retention, and persistence
  • Serves as an embedded tutor in developmental education courses when needed
  • Prepares detailed reports each semester on student outcomes and summarization of interventions
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s missions, core values, and goals

 

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in related field or program of study that commonly requires tutoring services from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Experience as a tutor or in a support environment related to education.

Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Experience in student program development and implementation.
