Chris Richards studied classical ballet with The Jaffrey Ballet School in New York City. After five years of living in New York, Richards attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a degree in chemistry. She later earned her medical degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine, and was in private practice as an obstetrician/ gynecologist for 14 years. A surgical injury to her right hand ended her career as a physician. Richards went back to school to pursue a fine arts degree which allowed her to re-energize and develop a passion for painting and sculpture. Each concentration contributed to her artwork, and her experiences in medicine and classical ballet gave her familiarity with, and reverence for, the female form. Richardson believes that art is not only an expression of who she is, but of the evolution of who she is becoming. Visit her artist website here.
