The Director of Communications supports the mission of the church by working closely with the ministers and staff to gather, manage, and disseminate (through multiple channels) pertinent church information. The purpose of the position is to maintain member and community engagement through effective communication.
This is a position that will evolve as needs and media change with the times. The Director of Communications will regularly evaluate usage of communications channels and provide regular metrics reports to the Head of Staff. At all times, the Director of Communications will work within appropriate social media guidelines and safe sanctuary policies in terms of sharing images and information. The Director will recommend changes in FPC communications patterns that will help us better communicate with the entire membership and encourage community engagement.
The Director of Communications is supervised by the Head of Staff. It is an approximately 20 hour a week position with negotiable salary or hourly compensation.
Proficiency in the following software, databases, and programs is preferred: YouTube, Constant Contact, OneDrive, Microsoft Word, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Outlook, Canva, Square Space.
Most of the work can be accomplished during regular weekdays, but there will be a need for occasional evening and weekend hours, for which the Director will be given compensatory time off.
