Card Games: Beginner's Bridge

Course Code: CSP-BRIDGE

This is an introductory class where you will learn the mechanics of the game, including bidding and play of hand. This course offers a preparation for play, whether it is duplicate or "kitchen table" bridge. Materials are included, and no previous knowledge of bridge is required.

The class will meet at Grace Anglican Church in New Bern at Fellowship Hall on Thursdays.
 

About the Instructor

Susan Hopkins completed her studies in mathematics and graduated from UNC-Greensboro in 1968. In 1981, she finished her Master's in Gifted Education at UNC-G and taught math in Rockingham County until retiring in 1996. Her next move was to Morehead City, where life was very busy serving as treasurer at the New Atlantic House, working for various councils such as the League of Women Voters and The Council for Women. Prior to COVID-19, Susan taught bridge at Carteret Community College and currently facilitates the New Bern Newcomers Bridge Club, which meets to enjoy weekly games.

About the Community Enrichment Program

The Community Enrichment Program (CEP) at Craven Community College provides a diverse array of non-credit, short-term, and affordable courses. Classes are open to anyone who wants to keep learning while having fun! Topics offered are based on community input and range in skill levels from beginner to advanced. Classes can take place in one session or span several weeks. Please note: CEP classes cannot be used for credit toward any of our degree programs.

Students may receive a full refund if a CEP class is canceled by Craven CC prior to the start date, or the student withdraws from the class before the start date. Complete details about CEP refunds are available in the Workforce Development section of the academic catalog.
