Baguettes at market in France

Classic French Breads

Course Code: CSP-FBREADS

The baguette, originating from France, has a soft, airy, and chewy interior made with an irregular structure of air pockets. It appears as a long, thin loaf of bread with rounded edges. Focaccia originated from Italy and is considered a precursor to pizza. It is a flatbread, typically baked on a sheet pan. Its interior is soft and fluffy with a crispy, oily crust. Which is the better bread: baguette or focaccia? Well, you make them and you decide! Be sure to bring takeout containers or Tupperware to transport your baked goods home.

Classes are open to anyone who wants to keep learning while having fun! Topics offered are based on community input and range in skill levels from beginner to advanced. Classes can take place in one session or span several weeks. Please note: CEP classes cannot be used for credit toward any of our degree programs.

Students may receive a full refund if a CEP class is canceled by Craven CC prior to the start date, or the student withdraws from the class before the start date. Complete details about CEP refunds are available in the Workforce Development section of the academic catalog.
