This class will give you an introduction to the basic fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL). The course will provide an overview of ASL history and culture. You will learn finger spelling, numbers, phrases, and expressions.
Please Note: This class cannot be used for credit toward any of our degree programs. If you have questions about foreign language requirements, please speak with an advisor.
About the Instructor
Karyn Lackey has worked as a deaf teacher with hearing, deaf, and hard-of-hearing students for more than 13 years. She has developed curriculum and served as an interpreter in various classes, office visits, and with many parents of children with various disabilities. Karyn is looking forward to introducing the natural language and culture of the American deaf community to the Craven Community College community.
