Colored Pencil & Ink

Course Code: CSP-MXMEDIA

This class is a series of lessons that teach you how to use permanent ink pens and colored pencils to confidently complete an original, abstract, colorful project from beginning to end. You will learn free-form drawing techniques with technical pens and wax-based pencils while exploring combinations of blending, burnishing, wet and dry techniques, layering tones, roughening, scoring, fusion colors, and more. With step-by-step guidance and encouragement, your art will be ready for framing! There will also be an opportunity for group critique and the option for an on-campus public art display.

Students are required to bring the following items to class:

  • Black Sakura Pigma Micron Pens - sizes 01, 03, and 05

The following supplies are optional but recommended:

  • Prismacolor Premier Soft Core Colored Pencils (can be purchased at Walmart or local craft supply store)

All other supplies are provided by instructor for use during class time.

About the Community Enrichment Program

The Community Enrichment Program (CEP) at Craven Community College provides a diverse array of non-credit, short-term, and affordable courses. Classes are open to anyone who wants to keep learning while having fun! Topics offered are based on community input and range in skill levels from beginner to advanced. Classes can take place in one session or span several weeks. Please note: CEP classes cannot be used for credit toward any of our degree programs.

Students may receive a full refund if a CEP class is canceled by Craven CC prior to the start date, or the student withdraws from the class before the start date. Complete details about CEP refunds are available in the Workforce Development section of the academic catalog.
