Nurse aide credentials will also be required to work in a skilled nursing home as a medication aide. This class is limited to 10 seats. Students must have internet access to complete mandatory online homework.

This course is designed to meet the training requirements for becoming qualified as a Medication Aide. The course will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications. Upon completion, students should be able to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. Each student enrolled in this section is expected to attend all the meeting times and location listed below. The online work may be done anytime during the week, and the number of hours listed indicate how much time a student should anticipate it taking to complete the online assignments each week. Courses with both classroom and clinical components, have additional times listed for the clinical dates, which are located off campus.
