Basic Rider Motorcycle Safety

If you’re new to riding or haven’t ridden in a long time, our Motorcycle Safety course is a must. You’ll become familiar with the location and operation of controls while riding on a protected range, and you will learn the basic skills needed to safely operate a motorcycle in traffic. The 20-hour course is taught by nationally certified instructors and is held on weekends.

  • Successful completion earns you a skills waiver card for the NCDMV
  • The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable
  • Class size is limited and will operate rain or shine

  • Motorcycles and training manuals are provided
     
  • You must wear an approved helmet, over-the-ankle footwear, long pants, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, full-fingered gloves, and protective eye wear at all times while training
     
  • There is a mandatory, free e-course provided by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation that must be completed prior to the first class. The coordinator will contact you by email with the coupon code and login information
     
  • A copy of the e-course Certificate of Completion must be presented to the instructor on the first day of class, prior to class beginning. Craven CC library resources are available for online support and printing if needed
