Our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs provide certification in CPR, first aid, medical responder, emergency medical technician (EMT) basic, EMT intermediate, and paramedic. Courses are available to rescue squads, ambulance services, fire departments, and law enforcement agencies. CPR and EMT recertification classes are also offered. Fee-based classes in this program are available to interested citizens, business, industries, and church groups. Classes are held on campus, online, and throughout the county.
Students who complete our Paramedic certificate program may be eligible to transfer credits into Carteret Community College’s Associate in Applied Science in Emergency Medical Science Bridge degree program. Credit Transfer Disclaimer
The Workforce Development and Continuing Education based EMS programs at Craven Community College do not currently offer advanced placement or experiential learning credit options. These programs include EMT Basic and Paramedic Initial. Students in these programs are currently not allowed to transfer clinical hours or skills from other programs and must complete the required minimum clinical hours, field hours, and skills assessments to complete the program and be eligible for North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) testing.
Fee Waiver Notice
If you are affiliated with a North Carolina State approved agency (paid or volunteer EMS/Paramedic department) your registration fee will be waived.
