Emergency Medical Responder Refresher

Course Code: EMS-EMRRF

This course is designed for those with expired or nearly expired credentials. This is a hybrid course consisting of online and on-site requirements. Students nearly expired will receive the hours to recertify. Those with expired certifications after completing this course will be eligible to take the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) certification exam.

This course must follow the guidelines established by the NC Office of EMS. The Office of EMS must approve courses that include portions delivered via distance education. The curriculum for the EMR Refresher Educational program shall be the 2009, or most current release of the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National Education Standards. The EMR Refresher Educational program must be conducted by an approved Basic or Advanced Educational Institution as defined in the rules of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission. The lead instructor for the EMR Refresher Educational program must be a NC credentialed Level I EMS Instructor at the EMT, AEMT or Paramedic level as defined in the rules of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission. Student prerequisite/entry requirements: Currently holds a valid North Carolina, NREMT or other State EMS Credential at level or held a Basic Level North Carolina EMS Credential (EMR or EMT) that has expired within the last two (2) years.
