Occupational Summary

The Coordinator, College and Career Readiness (Intake and Retention) serves as the initial contact for all students in the program.  This position is responsible for administering and scheduling orientation sessions and the completion of intake paperwork for new students.  This position meets with all minor students and their guardians and will verify that required documentation is obtained for enrollment.  This position also monitors attendance reporting and notifies appropriate coordinators of students in jeopardy of being withdrawn from the program due to excessive absences.  This position serves as the point of contact for students needing access to college and community resources that may help to remove barriers to academic success as well as referring students to post-secondary opportunities on campus after completion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Provides excellent customer service and assistance to internal and external customers through walk-in, telephone and email
  • Responds to program inquiries from students and guardians
  • Conducts, manages, and administers the implementation of orientation and intake while also working closely with coordinators to create class, testing, and orientation scheduling
  • Teaches First Step classes
  • Creates and complies orientation folders and required intake paperwork such as registrations, code of conduct, FERPA, and other forms
  • Serves as the point of contact for minor student enrollment and meets with students/guardians to review policies and collect required documentation
  • Monitors student attendance reports; communicates with students, instructors, and coordinators regarding attendance issues
  • Creates warnings and withdrawal letters for attendance issues
  • Assists with counseling and advising of students
  • Assists with the creation and implementation of a retention plan that monitors student progression, ensuring movement and completion while also providing guidance on transitioning to other college programs and/or employment opportunities
  • Refers students to support services on campus and external community agencies
  • Assists in the recruitment of new students
  • Attends professional development opportunities focusing on recruitment, retention, advising, and post-secondary transitioning of students
  • Teaches within the program as necessary
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College's mission, core values and goals

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Two (2) years’ experience in adult instruction or teaching at the middle/high school level.

Valid North Carolina Drivers' License

Preferred:
Master’s degree in Adult Education from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Experience using Colleague.

Experience in a College and Career Readiness program.
