Foley Fleet Services is seeking dependable, professional, and compassionate NEMT Drivers to join our team in New Bern, NC. In this role, you will provide safe, reliable, and "door-to-door" transportation for clients. You will ensure patients reach their critical medical appointments—including dialysis, physical therapy, chemotherapy, and routine checkups—comfortably and on time.
Because our drivers navigate both the historic streets of New Bern and rural surrounding communities, local geographic knowledge and a focus on customer service are vital.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Patient Transport: Safely operate company vehicles (sedans, minivans, or specialized wheelchair-accessible vans) to transport clients from their residences to medical appointments, and back.
- Door-to-Door Assistance: Actively assist passengers safely from their homes, to the vehicle, and escort them directly to their medical destinations.
- Mobility Device Management: Safely operate wheelchair lifts/ramps and strictly adhere to federal safety protocols for securing wheelchairs, scooters, and other mobility devices.
- Navigating the Region: Efficiently navigate routes within New Bern and surrounding rural areas (such as Havelock, Vanceboro, Bayboro, and Trent Woods), occasionally driving to regional medical centers in Greenville, Jacksonville or Morehead City.
- Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct daily safety checks of the vehicle (fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, lifts) and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Cleanliness & Sanitization: Maintain a clean, professional, and well-sanitized vehicle interior in compliance with healthcare transport standards.
- Communication & Documentation: Maintain clear communication with dispatch via company software/radios. Accurately log trip data, mileage, pick-up/drop-off times, and passenger incident reports.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Licensing & Driving Record:
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
- A clean driving record (No more than 2 moving violations or chargeable accidents within the past 3 years).
- Must be at least 21 years old (for company vehicle commercial insurance compliance).
Health & Background Screenings:
- Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check, sex offender registry check, and OIG exclusion screening.
- Ability to pass a 10-panel drug screening (plus random testing).
Preferred (But We Will Train):
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and First Aid certifications.
- Certified in PASS (Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity).
- Prior experience as a CNA, PCA, Medical Assistant, or operating paratransit/delivery vehicles.
