Lawyer, actor, musician, performer—meet George Oliver, an accomplished attorney who can act and play the banjo, too! Not many people can boast this eclectic array of titles, but George does it with finesse.
While there are countless attorneys in the area, George has set himself apart by providing extremely discounted services for victims of Hurricane Florence. “Most of the people haven’t been through this before,” he said. “We are representing people who don’t think they got a fair shake from their insurance adjustments.”
George’s own home was inundated with floodwaters and wind damage, but that hasn’t stopped him from putting others first. “What we love about New Bern is a sense of strong community,” he said. “Saw a lot of that after Hurricane Florence—people coming together and helping each other out.”
Next on George’s agenda is a panel discussion entitled “Moving Forward” at Craven Community College’s Orringer Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. The free event will include a Q&A session with a panel of experts about how to navigate the confusing and frustrating process of flood remediation and insurance claims after the destruction of Hurricane Florence.
“I want everyone walking away from this knowing exactly what they need,” he said. “So if this happens again, we can survive it.”
