NEW BERN – Craven Community College (Craven CC) has hired Dr. Jeff Wilke as the new director of the Small Business Center (SBC). The SBC is located on the college’s Volt Center campus near downtown New Bern and has played an integral part in assisting several small businesses across Craven County.

Wilke holds a doctoral degree in business administration and marketing and a master’s degree in business administration. He served 21 years with the United States Navy and is currently the president and owner of Easy Step Solutions, LLC, a consulting company that works closely with the Small Business Administration and small businesses. He is also an adjunct professor at Campbell University and Webster University, both located at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, the latter for which he previously served as director.

“We are excited to have Dr. Wilke join our college family and lend his expertise to our small business community,” said Gery Boucher, vice president for students. “We look forward to his role in upholding the high standards of our Small Business Center while serving the small business needs of Craven County.”

Craven CC’s award-winning SBC supports the development of new businesses and growth of existing businesses in Craven County. They provide workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners, personalized small business advising and resources to help people successfully start and operate a small business. The majority of services and workshops are available at no cost. Craven CC’s SBC is among 58 located at community colleges across North Carolina. They are now serving clients at the college’s New Bern, Havelock and Volt Center campuses.
