NEW BERN – Craven Community College’s (Craven CC) Adult Enrichment Program (AEP) has partnered with New Bern Civic Theatre (NBCT) to provide a performing arts class Thursday, June 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. The class will take place at NBCT, located at 414 Pollock St. in New Bern.

The course, Theater Arts 101, will provide hands-on experience for anyone interested in exploring aspects of the performing arts. Staff and executive directors of NBCT will provide students with a basic overview of performing arts and the history of the Athens Theater. Participants will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the stage, light and sound booth and props and costume areas, along with experience being on the stage.

“We are so excited to announce our partnership with New Bern Civic Theatre,” said Megan Johnson, Craven CC’s adult enrichment coordinator. “Our goal is to provide an open door for students who otherwise may not have the opportunity to take a theater class and give them a chance to tap into their creative side.”

The course fee is $25 and includes a complementary ticket for a NBCT 2018 mainstage season show. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes to the class.
