Craven Community College President Dr. Ray Staats received the Young Professionals Group Marvin Rains Jr. Mentor of the Year Award during the New Bern Chamber of Commerce Annual Celebration & Award Ceremony held Thursday, January 18.
The Marvin Rains Jr. Mentor of the Year award was presented to Dr. Staats for his help in creating a new scholarship endowment they will begin funding this year. Dr. Staats was helpful to the chamber’s Young Professionals Group as they worked through the terms, conditions, and criteria for a scholarships they will fund for Craven Community College students.
