FRC East welcomes second class of apprentices

CHERRY POINT — Fleet Readiness Center East recently welcomed its second class of apprentices at the aircraft repair facility. Twenty new employees reported for duty Aug. 10, as part of a nationally standardized pipeline through which FRC East can hire and train a workforce of highly skilled aircraft mechanics.

The apprentices complete an Industrial Systems Technology certificate at Craven Community College, which is part of the curriculum for an associate’s degree. FRC East pays the full tuition. Once their coursework is complete, they will spend the next three years alternating between on-the-job and classroom training to learn their specific trades.
