Scholarships and funding opportunities are available to most students. Public Safety students (fire, EMS, paramedic, law enforcement) may be eligible for 100% fee waivers after registering for classes. This class is designed to teach the basics in acrylic painting. You will learn how to sketch, mix colors, blend and paint. Although there are many types of brushes, you will learn the specific brush type needed for the project you will be working on. You will also learn how to clean and maintain your brushes so they can last longer. Each class will begin with a brief demonstration of how to put all of this together to create your masterpiece! This course must follow the guidelines established by the NC Office of EMS. The Office of EMS must approve courses that include portions delivered via distance education. The curriculum for the Paramedic educational program shall be the 2009, or most current release of the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National Education Standards. The Paramedic program must be conducted by an approved Advanced Educational Institution as defined in the rules of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission. The lead instructor for the Paramedic educational program must be a NC credentialed Level II EMS Instructor at the Paramedic level as defined in the rules of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission. Student prerequisites: A) Successful completion of an EMT educational program. Though a current and valid Credential is not required, an Educational Institution maintains the right to include this as a Prerequisite. B) High school diploma or high school equivalent; C) Reading comprehension and English language skills on the post-secondary level. D) Compliance with the mathematical skills on the post-secondary level E) Anatomy and Physiology (Minimum EMS-3000).

Students will learn electrical theory in Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) applications. Students will learn electronic theory and the associated mathematical formulas to calculate electrical circuitry and electrical components. Students will learn how to use the Electrical Meter and Oscilloscope to read Voltage, Amperage (Current) and Resistance (Ohms). Additionally, students will apply these principals to Wind Energy and other renewable energy sources.
