Our Workforce Development (WFD) department provides hundreds of short-term training programs in a wide range of topics. You don't need to complete the college application process to take a WFD class. Scholarships and funding opportunities are available to most students. Public Safety students (fire, EMS, paramedic, law enforcement) may be eligible for 100% fee waivers after registering for classes. This ten-day course is designed to assist the unemployed, under-employed or those who have received notice of a pending lay-off with aligning their interests, skills and abilities with jobs in the community. In this course, students will start by learning to use the computer to job search, build a resume, construct a cover letter, and upload their resume to a job posting. Students will also get training in matching their skills, abilities and interests to the existing job market. Students will participate in mock interviews and learn appropriate dress attire for those seeking employment. Students will end the course by learning money management and financial planning skills. Lastly, students will tour NCWorks and will meet with potential employers upon successful completion of the course.

This 2-hour course explores a career as a Massage Therapy Technician. Linked to our Massage Therapy program, topics include specifics on Craven’s training program, certification requirements, and employment outlook in the field. The MA to NA Bridge Course is a 6-week program for certified Medical Assistants who wish to apply to the Practical Nursing (PN) program but lack Nursing Aide I certification. This course addresses the skills gap between medical and nursing assistants, allowing successful completers to apply for the Practical Nursing program at Craven Community College without Nurse Aide 1 certification. Note: This course does not qualify participants for the NC state Nurse Aide competency exam or listing on the state registry.
