Course Code: CJC-INTRDIC

Craven Community College, in a partnership with Craven County Sheriff’s Office, is pleased to host “Winning Interdiction - Conducting Complete Traffic Stops." This course is being offered to benefit the interdiction and enforcement efforts for all law enforcement agencies and is taught by Sheriff Michael Lewis of Wicomico County, Maryland.

Sheriff Lewis will focus on conducting complete traffic stops, officer safety, and “winning interdiction.” Lewis is a 37-year law enforcement veteran who served 22 years with the Maryland State Police, and 15 years with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office. In addition to his duties as the agency’s leading Criminal Interdiction Expert, Sheriff Lewis remains a certified instructor through the Maryland Police Training Commission and a certified master instructor through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

This intense course is designed for both veteran and new officers alike. It focuses on the relationship between traffic enforcement, impaired driving enforcement, and criminal enforcement. Specific techniques are covered to assist officers in detecting criminal activity during DWI enforcement and other traffic-related activities. Attendees will receive extensive instruction in roadside interviews and hidden compartments to include those vehicles equipped with aftermarket installed false compartments.
