If you’re already brewing at home and want to take your brewing to the next level, our Advanced Brewing class is for you. This 24-hour class will allow you to experience different methods:

  • Creating and designing beer recipes
  • Brew in a Bag (BIAB)
  • Step mashing
  • Single infusion
  • Creating and designing spirit recipes: sugar wash for a neutral spirit, corn whisky for traditional corn-based moonshine
  • Distillation of a basic wash: reflux distillation, making neutral grain spirits
  • Distillation of corn/barley mash: basic pot distillation, making corn whisky (moonshine)
  • Brew on a commercial brewing system at local brewery Brütopia Brewing Company

The course is design to teach students about the craft beer brewing industry. Course content may focus on 1) identifying beer flavors and styles and 2) understanding the brewing process and beer ingredients. Student will also gain a base knowledge of beer history and historical styles, retail beer storage and service issues, and beer pairing principles. Upon completion, students can sit for various national certifications in the brewing industry and food service safety.
