This course provides an accelerated pathway for currently certified Medical Assistants (MAs) that graduated from a CAAHEP-accredited program and wish to apply to Craven's Practical Nursing (PN) program. Recognizing that certified MAs have already learned many essential Nurse Aide I skills, this course focuses on the remaining competencies needed for PN program eligibility, allowing applicants to bypass the full Nurse Aide I program required of other applicants.
Successful completion of this course will earn the student a Bridge Completion Voucher that will be accepted as a substitution to the normal Nurse Aide I requirement. Classroom and lab sessions are held on the New Bern campus.

The MA to NA Bridge Course is a 6-week program for certified Medical Assistants who wish to apply to the Practical Nursing (PN) program but lack Nursing Aide I certification. This course addresses the skills gap between medical and nursing assistants, allowing successful completers to apply for the Practical Nursing program at Craven Community College without Nurse Aide 1 certification. Note: This course does not qualify participants for the NC state Nurse Aide competency exam or listing on the state registry.
