Workforce Development

This certification course will present firefighter candidates with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of Chapters 5 and 6 of NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications. Students will learn the methods of forcing entry into structures while utilizing different principles and practices. This course is part of the NC Firefighter Certification Program approved by the NC Fire and Rescue Commission.

If you’re already brewing at home and want to take your brewing to the next level, our Advanced Brewing class is for you. This 24-hour class will allow you to experience different methods:

CDL orientation is mandatory prior to registering for CDL Truck Driver Training.

A three-hour orientation session will be held approximately six weeks prior to the start of each Class A course. This will ensure that you have enough time to take care of all requirements needed to enter the respective program. Orientation classes are held at 5:30 p.m.

Craven Community College, in a partnership with Craven County Sheriff’s Office, is pleased to host “Winning Interdiction - Conducting Complete Traffic Stops." This course is being offered to benefit the interdiction and enforcement efforts for all law enforcement agencies and is taught by Sheriff Michael Lewis of Wicomico County, Maryland.

Our short-term NCCER Field Safety program is designed for individuals in construction involved with completing or overseeing specific tasks—including the craftsperson, crew leader, safety supervisor, and superintendent. This 92-hour program covers introduction to safety, materials handling, confined spaces, work-zone safety, electrical safety, working from elevations, welding safety, steel erection, crane safety, and more. If you score 80% on all exams and complete all practical evaluations, you will earn the NCCER certification in Field Safety with international recognition.

The Post 303 - NC Law, Rules, and Legal Concepts course is one of the three 30-instructional hour courses in the North Carolina mandatory postlicensing education program. The primary objective of the courses is to provide instruction at a level beyond that provided in prelicensing courses on topics deemed to be of special importance in the active practice of real estate brokerage.

If you're looking to enhance your career in the diesel technology field, this class is a must. This course covers two- and four-cycle engines that are used for marine vessel propulsion. Emphasis is placed on construction, design, cooling systems, lubrication systems, and air in-take systems. Upon completion of the program, students should be able to test, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair marine engine systems.

This course provides a refresher in basic employment skills. Core topics include written, oral, non-verbal, contextual, and active listening communication and mathematic skills such as time management, abstract thinking, data analysis, and forecasting. Upon completion, students will be prepared to successfully complete pre-employment assessments.

Our Commercial Cleaning classes are offered on a variety of schedules to meet the growing need for qualified industrial/commercial/residential companies in the area. The class is a total of 204 hours and is offered during the day, evenings, and weekends to best meet the working schedules of our student population interested in starting a career in commercial cleaning.
