Jump-start your career and learn what it takes to repair and maintain a small two-stroke or four-stroke engine in our Small Engine Mechanic program. This short-term, in-depth course will teach you how to assess and perform routine maintenance on small engine/power equipment, from lubricating parts and replacing spark plugs to testing and inspecting for engine malfunctions. You will be taught to replace worn, defective, or broken parts, reassemble engine components, and follow manufacturers’ recommended general maintenance and repair of small engine/power equipment.

Business and industry require skilled professionals who can come to the rescue in actual or potential releases of hazardous materials or hazardous waste. In this course, which meets the requirements of 29 CR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER), you will be required to utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) including fully encapsulating suits, a combination of respirators, and other PPE. Approximately 40% of the class is geared toward hands-on, practical experience.

This course meets the 8-hour annual refresher requirements of 29 CR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER) and is designed for individuals who have the responsibility to respond to actual or potential releases of hazardous materials or hazardous waste.

Our Gateway to Employment & Career course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. The course addresses each of the six core Human Resources Development components:

  1. Assessment of an individual’s assets and limitations
  2. Development of a positive self-concept
  3. Development of employability skills
  4. Development of communication skills
  5. Development of problem-solving skills
  6. Awareness of the impact of information technology in the workplace

This accelerated aviation maintenance program is designed to prepare individuals with civilian or military experience for the FAA Powerplant Technician certification. Through classroom discussions and hands-on shop exercises, you will become competent in the powerplant phase of certification in FAA-regulated aircraft maintenance. This course aims to provide students with principles, fundamentals, and technical procedures in subject-matter areas relating to the powerplant rating.

This course is designed for those with little to no medical background wanting to become an emergency medical technician (EMT). This is a hybrid course consisting of online and on-site requirements. Employment assistance available upon request.

Please note: The Monday through Thursday courses from 1- 7 p.m. are for DOD SkillBridge military personnel. Registration is available for civilians, but DOD SkillBridge military personnel have priority.

The Central Sterile Processing is a dynamic and fast paced environment with work that is challenging, highly technical, complex and rewarding. The Central Sterile Processing Technician is an essential part of the surgical team and has a vital impact on the smooth operation of the many departments they provide services. Patient safety and infection preventions start with Central Sterile Processing.

Study cardiology topics and engage in labs to learn how to perform electrocardiogram (EKG) examinations/stress/holter monitors. Optional National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification costs $129 and will be proctored at Craven Community College for those who complete the course. Course cost consists of tuition and supply fees.

Our Commercial Driver License (CDL) program offers Class A options that will provide you with an excellent foundation for a truck driving career. You will be tested thoroughly on the road and through written exams to ensure that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully and safely operate commercial vehicles.

If you’re new to riding or haven’t ridden in a long time, our Motorcycle Safety course is a must. You’ll become familiar with the location and operation of controls while riding on a protected range, and you will learn the basic skills needed to safely operate a motorcycle in traffic. The 20-hour course is taught by nationally certified instructors and is held on weekends.

Are you looking for a career that helps people look their best? Barbering Concepts will assist you in becoming a professional barber-stylist. Full-time and part-time programs are available to accommodate your schedule and require no prior experience. When you complete the 1,528-hour course, you’ll be prepared to take the North Carolina Board of Barbering Examiners exam to qualify as an apprentice. Scholarships are available.

Please note: The part-time Barbering Concepts program runs Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.
