Associate in Science AS

An Associate in Science (AS) is an excellent degree choice if you plan to transfer to a university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in math, science, natural or physical science, or medicine. Areas of study under the AS degree span a wide range of academic interests, and completing this degree can be your first step toward earning a bachelor’s degree in the science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field.

For degree completion, you must successfully complete 45 general education hours and 15 hours of elective credit. We have also identified literature, history, health/physical education, and college transfer success as required courses.

This program is also available to high school students through our Career & College Promise program.

The Associate in Science program is focused on job-related skills in the following areas:

• Integrating content across scientific disciplines
• Demonstrating the ability to collect, interpret, and formulate conclusions from data using both quantitative and qualitative methods

• Demonstrating how historical, philosophical, cultural, global, and socioeconomic factors affect human interactions and behaviors

Career Opportunities

Career opportunities with an Associate in Science include working in private sector firms in the various fields such as research and development or laboratories, as well as positions in education on primary or secondary levels. This program provides an excellent background for other fields requiring mathematics/science proficiency, including:
