National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) certification is a nationally recognized credential for crane operators and other professionals in construction and general industries. It demonstrates a worker's competence in safely and effectively operating cranes and rigging equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. NCCCO certification helps ensure that crane operators are properly trained and qualified, which contributes to a safer work environment for everyone on the job site.
While not universally mandated by law, many construction companies and other organizations require NCCCO certification to meet regulatory requirements and industry standards. In other words, without this certification, you may not get hired. OSHA's standard 29 CFR 1926.1427 mandates that crane operators working in construction must be certified by an accredited organization when operating cranes with a capacity greater than 2,000 pounds.
Students are required to wear safety shoes or boots with long pants. All training materials, including books and study guides, are included in the cost of the course tuition.
OSHA section 1926.1427 of the new rule describes crane operator certification and qualification requirements. It states that employers must ensure each operator is certified by an accredited testing organization that administers both written and practical tests. This certification is based on the equipment type, or type and capacity, and demonstrates that the operator has the necessary skills and knowledge for safe operation.
Upon successful completion of the Mobile Crane Operator program, students will be receiving Fixed Cab Crane Certification, along with Rigging Level 1 certification.
The mobile crane operator certification is the most sought-after certification for students to become employed. Being a crane operator is a challenging and important career that offers robust job stability, numerous career opportunities, and an excellent salary. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national average salary for a crane operator is approximately $68,040. In Craven County, OSHA-certified crane operators can expect to earn a competitive average salary around $60,000. Earning your certification not only gives you a competitive edge in the job market but also provides the skills and confidence to succeed in this high-demand field.
