This course is designed for a current emergency medical technician (EMT) basic wanting to progress to the advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT) level. This course meets two nights a week and one Saturday a month.

If you’re looking to expand your electrical skills without going through an entire degree program, this short-term course is a great choice. This hands-on Electrical Level 4 course is available for students who have completed Levels 1-3.

This course includes mandatory Core Curriculum. Books provided for in-classroom use only. When you complete the program, you’ll receive National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification for Electrical Level 4.

Our Solar Technology program will introduce you to one of the fastest growing construction industries. This hands-on program is delivered in a short-term format with no prior experience necessary.

This course will teach officers the practical applications associated with Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST). The SFST is a battery of three tests performed during a traffic stop in order to determine if a driver is impaired. The tests include the horizontal gaze nystagmus, the walk-and-turn, and the one-leg stand. Developed in the 1970s, these tests are scientifically validated and are admissible as evidence in court in a majority of states.

Required Materials

Students must have a current copy of the General Instructor Student Manual.

Registering students need to contact the NC Justice Academy and purchase a Field Training Officer student book.

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training is a jail diversion and de-escalation model of training for law enforcement during which officers gain a better understanding of the needs of individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or intellectual/developmental disabilities. The idea is to divert them to treatment when this can be done at little risk to public safety.

If you’re looking to enter the construction and carpentry workforce without going through an entire degree program, this short-term course is a great choice. It is available to students who have completed NCCER Carpentry Level 1.
