In this class, you will create mixed media art using various found objects, common household items, and a gel printing plate. Build confidence in your artistic ability as you learn to use different papers and techniques, resulting in several finished collage projects. Your completed art project will be ready for framing! There will be an opportunity for group critique and the option for an on-campus public art display.

This class is a series of lessons that teach you how to use permanent ink pens and colored pencils to confidently complete an original, abstract, colorful project from beginning to end. You will learn free-form drawing techniques with technical pens and wax-based pencils while exploring combinations of blending, burnishing, wet and dry techniques, layering tones, roughening, scoring, fusion colors, and more. With step-by-step guidance and encouragement, your art will be ready for framing!

In this class, you will learn how to explore drawing using black ink, pencil, simple shapes, and lines. You will be guided to the next level of techniques incorporating shading and blending to compliment your developing art. The class provides a step-by-step lesson for artists of all skill levels. You will gain confidence in your artistic ability and create art that is relaxing and fun to make. There is also an opportunity for a group critique and an option for an on-campus public art display as part of this learning experience.

Shrimp Fra Diavolo is a spicy Italian dish that combines sweet, savory, and spicy sauce that can be served over a bed of pasta. This intimate class of six students provides a unique opportunity to learn from a seasoned chef in a personalized setting. We focus on providing a hands-on, enjoyable experience where you can hone your culinary skills and discover the art of creating this flavorful Italian sauce.

This intimate, hands-on cooking class will focus on the versatile dish of chicken thighs. You'll learn how to transform this often overlooked cut of meat into two delicious dishes. We will be making a comforting chicken noodle soup and a rustic roasted chicken.

This 16-hour forklift training course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to safely operate a forklift. You will receive training in operating instructions, review of standards, vehicle capacity, compositions of loads, and much more to keep you safe and effective in your forklift work. This training includes an operator evaluation. You will receive both classroom instruction and hands-on practical training on a forklift. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate that verifies your training.

Have you always wanted to learn French? English owes nearly half of its vocabulary to French, so you’ll be able to recognize many words without realizing it! This course introduces the French language to adult learners and is conducted in dual French and English over the course of 10 weeks. Sessions include learning techniques with the adult in mind, relying on words common to both French and English.

Mah Jongg is a tile-based game using strategies and rules similar to rummy. The game is enjoying a resurgence of popularity since its introduction into early 20th-century American homes. Although it originated in China, we will be playing the American version. We will learn and follow the National Mah Jongg League rules and table etiquette. There are many groups of Mah Jongg players in the New Bern area. Once you master the game basics and table etiquette, you will be ready to join them for hours of fun and competition!
