Job Summary

American Majority Action is seeking an energetic, personable, and motivated Door Canvasser to join our outreach team in North Carolina's 1st Congressional District.

In this role, you will engage directly with voters in their communities through door-to-door outreach. You will have meaningful conversations, deliver approved campaign and issue-based messaging, identify voter concerns and levels of support, and accurately record information using the Voter Gravity mobile application.

The ideal candidate is comfortable speaking with people from diverse backgrounds, enjoys working independently, and is motivated by the opportunity to make a difference through direct community engagement. This paid, part-time position provides valuable experience in grassroots organizing, voter outreach, communication, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct door-to-door voter outreach in assigned neighborhoods and precincts.
• Engage voters in friendly, professional, and meaningful conversations.
• Deliver approved campaign and issue-based messaging in a clear and persuasive manner.
• Identify supporters, persuadable voters, and voter concerns through structured conversations.
• Answer questions and provide accurate information about relevant campaigns, issues, and programs.
• Use the Voter Gravity mobile application to record voter responses and update voter contact information.
• Accurately enter and maintain voter data while following all data security and organizational policies.
• Meet daily and weekly voter contact goals.
• Maintain a professional appearance and a positive attitude while working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet outreach goals and improve community engagement strategies.
• Represent American Majority Action professionally and positively in the community.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable speaking with voters from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to engage people in friendly, respectful, and persuasive conversations.
• Ability to walk for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation to assigned canvassing locations within North Carolina's 1st Congressional District.
• Ability to use a smartphone or tablet and learn the Voter Gravity platform.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
• Previous experience in canvassing, political campaigns, sales, customer service, fundraising, or grassroots organizing is preferred but not required.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk for extended periods while canvassing.
• Ability to carry campaign materials and literature.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to climb stairs and safely navigate residential neighborhoods.

Compensation & Schedule

• Part-time position: 10–28 hours per week
• $25 per hour
• Flexible scheduling, with evening and weekend availability required during peak outreach periods.

Suggested canvassing hours include:

• Monday–Friday: 10:00 a.m. to sundown
• Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to sundown
• Sunday: 12:00 p.m. to sundown
