Craven Early College (CEC) student Tiana Miller recently received a second place scholarship of $2,500 at the 2019 National Youth Speak Competition. Another CEC student, Liberty Munchel, received the Most Inspirational Award.

CEO of Speak America and Founder of the Let Your Life Speak Foundation Bart Queen announced scholarship recipients May 17, 2019. Competitors came from local and national high school and early college schools to compete demonstrating exceptional communications skills with delivery, content, and creativity while presenting on a local or civic topic.

Earlier in the school year, each of the student competitors completed 30 hours of strategic communications training with Queen to become a semi-finalist in the competition. Five judges were selected based on their work and life merits associated with mentoring and coaching young adults and students.
