Mayland Community College, located in the small town of Spruce Pine, NC, was completely devastated by the impact of Hurricane Helene. With a population of just over 2,200, Spruce Pine is only 50 miles from Asheville—and, like most other mountain communities in western NC, ill-equipped to handle destruction from flooding and high winds.
Several of Mayland's faculty, staff, and students have lost everything, and the campus remains closed indefinitely as the damage is assessed. At this time, there are still a lot of uncertainties regarding how to move forward and what supplies are needed most.
As a sister college in the North Carolina Community College System, Craven Community College has "adopted" Mayland CC in an effort to help them reopen their doors and support their community. Please join Craven CC as we raise funds to support Mayland's faculty, staff, and students.
All Craven employees and community members are invited to join us in providing monetary support so Mayland can disperse funds where they are needed the most. Every donation makes a difference!
Contributions will go through the Craven CC Foundation and will be transferred in full to Mayland CC.
