College Organizational Structure
The College is organized around three major administrative “Units,” each of which is led by a direct liaison to the President.
Learning & Student Success Unit
Charged with oversight of all academic programs and student support programs. The Executive Vice President of Learning & Student Success assures that the academic and educational support programs and services are of highest quality and standards. The Executive Vice President serves as a liaison between the President, all academic faculty and staff, and the Student Development Center. The Student Development Center includes oversight of admissions, advisement, financial aid, registration/records, career resources, student life, and TRiO/Student Support Services.
Administrative Services Unit
Charged with oversight of the financial, human relations, security, information technology services, auxiliary and physical plant operations. The Vice President of Administrative Services assures that the finance, business, information technology, personnel services and overall facility operations are of highest quality and standards. The Vice President serves as a liaison between the President and all staff in the Administrative Services Unit.
Havelock-Cherry Point Campus, Military Affairs & Workforce Development Unit
Charged with oversight of all academic and training programs including both credit (Curriculum) and non-credit (Workforce Development/Continuing Education) offerings at the Havelock-Cherry Point Campus, and all non-credit (Workforce Development/Continuing Education) offerings on the New Bern Campus, the Vice President of Havelock-Cherry Point Campus, Military Affairs & Workforce Development assures that the academic and educational support programs and services are of highest quality and standards.
Office of Institutional Advancement
Charged with oversight of the Craven Community College Foundation, Communications and Marketing, Lifetime Learning Center, and Grants Program. The Executive Director of the Foundation and the Director of Marketing, Communications & Development Liaison serve as liaisons between the President and all staff in the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Executive Leadership Team
The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) serves as the College’s senior-level administrative decision team and includes the College President, who serves as convener, the Executive Vice President, and the two Vice Presidents.
The Executive Leadership Team considers and addresses College-wide issues and decisions; develops agenda items, including Board of Trustee Policy recommendations, for Board meetings; reviews and resolves major financial and human resource allocations and Operations Policies and Procedures; and provides leadership and support for college-wide initiatives and strategic plan.
The Executive Leadership Team meets biweekly or as called by the President. Other faculty and staff are invited to participate in meetings of the Executive Leadership Team from time-to-time to present and consider issues.
President’s Cabinet
The President’s Cabinet consists of the College President, who serves as convener, the Vice Presidents, and the Deans along with two faculty representatives, two staff representatives, the Executive Director of the Foundation, the Director of Human Resources, the Havelock representative, Director of Financial Services, the Director of Marketing, and the Executive Assistant to the President.
The President’s Cabinet: functions as a decision-recommending body to address and assist with matters of operations, planning and budgeting while serving to enhance communications within the College and community through the various Units, Learning Centers and Departments; provides leadership and support for strategic priorities and goal accomplishment; and analyzes information/data reports that lead to new or improved processes and systems in support of organizational and academic excellence, service and leadership. The President’s Cabinet meets biweekly or as called by the President.
President’s Council
The President’s Council exists as an expanded President’s Cabinet and consists of the College President, who serves as convener, the entire membership of the President’s Cabinet as well as the Department Chairs and Directors from all units of the campus.
The President’s Council functions in an advisory capacity to enhance communications within the College and community and across the functional Units; share and discuss current issues, strategic directions and progress on major developmental areas and special projects; and hear reports from the President/Vice Presidents on Unit priorities and initiatives, as well as progress reports from Standing Committees and various Departments.
The Council meets monthly or as called, and participants are expected to share the discussions before the body with other faculty and staff.
