NEW BERN, N.C. – Craven Community College (Craven CC) will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its latest construction project, the Public Safety Training Center (PSTC), on Monday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. It will take place at the Craven County Industrial Park, located at 501 Executive Parkway in New Bern.

This state-supported $12 million initiative, developed in partnership with Craven County and supported by local and state leaders, will serve as a premier regional hub for training firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, and other first responders across Eastern North Carolina.

The 31-acre facility will feature state-of-the-art resources including a combined burn building and drill tower, indoor firearms range, driving pad, and more, addressing critical workforce needs in emergency services.

"The Public Safety Training Center is a monumental investment that will provide our region's first responders with the very best professional development to meet critical workforce needs and ensure public safety," said Craven CC President Dr. Ray Staats. "This facility directly supports Craven Community College’s mission to provide accessible and impactful educational opportunities for everyone across Eastern North Carolina."

Craven CC is working closely with Daniels & Daniels Construction Company and The Walker Group Architecture, Inc. on this project. The anticipated completion date is early 2027. Click here to learn more.
